The message of Christianity is one of hope and life. In the beginning, God and mankind enjoyed a perfect relationship. That relationship was broken because mankind chose to try and live their own way instead of the way God had intended. This is what the Bible calls “sin.”

“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”

Romans 3:23

God’s desire is for that relationship which was perfect in the beginning to be restored. He wants to know you and for you to know Him. We can’t be fulfilled by trying to live life our own way, but if we choose to live God’s way we can have life as it was always intended to be.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 6:23

Although God is heartbroken because mankind has chosen to reject Him and His ways, He still loves us. He chose to come close and restore our broken relationship even though we were still rejecting Him.

God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Romans 5:8

So how do you receive this new life which is a gift of God? It comes by accepting Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Jesus came to live a perfect life and to die in your place so that you can have a relationship with God and eternal life.

If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.

Romans 10:9-10

How can you be sure that you’ve received this new life? It is guaranteed by God. It is His gift to you, if you turn from living life your own way and choose to give your life to Him.

“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
